Philip J. Syribeys, D.M.D., P.C. Continuing Education is Crucial "Whether through continuing education courses or study clubs, the best clinicians are never finished learning." Please note that the State of Georgia requires a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education per year. Most dentists far exceed the minimum. Click on Subject to View Continuing Education Courseload The following is a breakdown of Continuing Education Courses attended. · Dental Implants – The placement of titanium cylinders and screws for the purpose of replacing missing and hopeless teeth. · Oral Surgery - The removal of hopeless teeth is the oldest treatment modalities of dentistry. Today, the augmentation of bony defects with bone grafting procedures enables the surgeon to prepare the site for future implant placement. · Endodontics - The pulp can become diseased or injured and thus is unable to repair itself. The removal of hopeless nerve tissue and filling the void with an inert biocompatible substance is referred to as root canal therapy. · Esthetic & Restorative Dentistry – The replacement and coverage of failing tooth structure with a multitude of advanced and time tested materials forms the basis of dentistry. Often performed out of necessity, the field has approached levels of predictable success that allow esthetic elective procedures to be performed. · Oral Medicine - These courses relate to the art of diagnosis and medicine. The human body is an amazing creation and sometimes it is a challenge to merely identify what exactly has failed. In short, one has to know what is wrong before a fix should be attempted with reguards to any subject. Sometimes, medicine can be prescribed. However, surgical solutions are often the only definitive treatement for most dental disease. · Administration – I wish it was all about teeth. However, if you are unable to locate the latest research article or patient information, then you are operating at a disadvantage. These courses are essential to the safe consistent delivery of the best dental care possible. · Temporomandibular Disorders – Temporomandibular dysfunction is a common ailment in todays society. The chronic pain can cause headaches, hearing problems, difficulty speaking, and a multitude of other symptoms..· Periodontal Procedures – A host of non-surgical periodontal treatments exist. These recently developed systems can provide the extra edge needed to beat periodontal disease without a surgical scalpel. It is my hopes that you will consider seeking your dental care within our practice. These are exciting times for the field of dentistry. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
